Summary
KRONOS Canada, Inc. is seeking an Environmental and Energy Coordinator for its facility in Varennes, Quebec, Canada. Reporting to the Health, Safety, Environment, Energy and Quality (HSEEQ) Department, the incumbent plays a key role in maintaining and continuously improving the plant’s Environmental and Energy Management Systems, which are certified to ISO 50001 and currently progressing toward ISO 14001 and RC14001 certification.
The successful candidate will actively contribute to regulatory compliance, environmental performance improvement, and the achievement of the organization’s energy management objectives.
Duties and Responsibility
- Ensure the implementation of the environmental monitoring program, including the coordination and oversight of specialized consultants.
- Supervise personnel responsible for environmental sampling and analysis, as well as hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
- Analyze environmental monitoring data.
- Prepare environmental reports (e.g., regulatory reports such as monthly effluent monitoring reports, annual hazardous waste inventory reports, IQEA, NPRI, etc.).
- Coordinate the disposal of hazardous waste materials.
- Prepare environmental permit applications and declarations of compliance.Coordinate the annual verification of the greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory.
- Assess the impact of legislative and regulatory changes on company operations.Represent the company on the CIAC Environmental Committee.
- Review and validate monthly energy performance reports (natural gas, steam, and electricity).Periodically update the plant’s energy review in collaboration with personnel from other departments.
- Actively participate in Energy Committee activities.
- Identify projects aimed at improving the plant’s environmental and energy performance and coordinate their implementation in collaboration with personnel from other departments.
- Actively participate in internal and external audits related to environmental and energy management systems.Serve as the on-call contact in the event of an environmental incident or community complaint and ensure all required communications are carried out in accordance with company procedures.
- Act as the company’s technical advisor in the event of an incident involving the transportation of dangerous goods.Conduct internal Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) audits.Participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP studies).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental and/or energy management within an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards.
