Summary

Maintain and continuously improve the technical aspects of the production unit's operation in order to achieve objectives related to the quantity and quality of products manufactured, health and safety, and the environment, with a view to increasing productivity and reducing operating costs. In addition, he/she will be directly involved in the plant's energy conservation and cost reduction committee. 
 

Duties and Responsibility

Individual responsibilities and tasks
- Identify, prepare and submit cost reduction and quality improvement projects;
- Coordinate and prioritize modification approval requests and investment projects, after assessing costs and establishing justifications;
- Coordinate the implementation of action plan items within the unit;
- Perform task audits;
- Participate in HAZOP meetings;
- Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of measures aimed at meeting our obligations with regard to Responsible Care and ISO Standards;
- Support the kettle process;
Shared responsibilities and tasks
- Actively participate in process risk studies;
- Work on the development and implementation of projects aimed at improving our health and safety record;
- Act as an internal technical expert for colleagues and external resources;
- Communicate with colleagues in other company plants to exchange information relevant to the achievement of objectives.
 

Education and Experience

Skills
- Excellent people skills;

- Ability to analyze, synthesize and be results-oriented;
- Demonstrate initiative, team spirit and leadership skills;
- Ability to organize and work independently;
- Fluent in French and English, both orally and in writing;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.

Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering;
- 3 to 10 years' experience in the chemical industry, including at least 2 years in process engineering;
- Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
